Tailer+ 1.2
Description
Tailer+ is a feature rich, flexible, and powerful log file viewer. Features include the ability to watch files as they are updated either locally or on a remote host using SSH, powerful text filters, bookmarkable windows, system-wide hot keys, and more window customizations than you could imagine.
Installation
Mount the downloaded dmg file. Drag the file named Tailer+ to your Applications folder.
System Requirements
Mac OS X 10.2 (or higher) with the BSD subsystem installed
Quick Start
1. Select "Tail..." from the "File" menu. In the window that appears select "/var/log" from the "Log Directories" menu and highlight "system.log" in the file list.
2. In "Tail Options" select the first checkbox and then choose the "-F" option. Next, select the second checkbox and choose "-n". Type "20" into the text field after the "-n" and other options.
3. Click the "Open" button and the last 20 lines of your system.log file will appear. Any updates to this file will be appended and displayed as they are made.
4. Move the window and resize it to the dimensions and placement you want for it on your desktop.
5. Now, select "Window Settings..." from the "Tailer+" menu. For "Style" select "Titleless" and for "Level" select "Desktop Level". Uncheck "Has Shadow" and you now have a way to monitor your system.log at a glance any time you need.
